The library's collections total approximately 130,000 items. We have an extensive Large Print collection, N.H. town histories, Keene High School yearbooks, car repair manuals, great children's' collections and audio-visual collections, and much more. (See Things You Might Not Know We Have!)

Computers @ the Library

blue bullet There are several PCs with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher available on a first come first served basis. They print to a (black & white) laser printer. Computers in the Youth Department are equipped with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher as well.

blue bullet Nine Internet access workstations in the Adult area and four in the Youth Department are available to KPL card-holders and visitors. See KPL's Internet Policies for more information on the use of the Internet terminals. These also print to a laser printer. Copies are 10¢ per page.

blue bullet Laptop ports - There are laptop ports available on the tables behind the first-floor Reference Desk, as well as some in the Youth Department. Your computer must have an Ethernet or network card in order to hook up to these ports. They access the Internet on a very fast connection. Cables may be borrowed at the first-floor Reference Desk.

blue bullet Wireless - the Library also has free Wireless available to connect to the Internet.

blue bullet Laptops to borrow - The library has two laptops that may be borrowed by KPL card holders for use in the adult section of the library. Ask at the first floor Reference Desk.

blue bullet Internet - Besides the public Internet workstations, the Reference and Youth Department staff has access to the Internet and would be happy to help you find information or find it for you.

blue bullet The library maintains a collection of subject-specific Recommended Internet Links.

blue bullet Computer instruction - For KPL cardholders, librarians will provide free one-on-one instruction in:

  • Basic Computer Use
  • Using the Internet
  • Searching the Internet
  • Email
  • Using the Library Catalog
  • Searching the Library's Online Databases

blue bullet Youth Department Computers - Several computers allow children and others to enjoy age appropriate educational and entertaining programs that have been preinstalled. There are also four Internet access workstations, and additional computers with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publishing Software.

blue bullet two photocopiers (copies are 10¢ each)

blue bullet two microfilm and microfiche reader/printers (copies are 10¢ each)

blue bullet a "TeleSensory print enlarging machine" which will enlarge printed materials up to 25 times

blue bullet a public fax machine for sending faxes ($1.75 for first page and $1.00 for additional pages). This takes credit and debit cards. If you don't have either, we can sell you a fax card, good for the number of pages you need to fax.  Ask at the Reference Desk.

blue bullet a DVD viewing and CD/Audiocassette listening station in the Youth Department.

blue bullet a Wii U is available for use in the Youth Department. A DS, 3 DS, and games can be checked out from the Youth Desk and used in the library. The library also has an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, which are used during gaming programs.

blue bullet a scanner for digitizing photos and documents up to 8 1/2" by 11".  Scanned images   can either be printed or saved to a flashdrive.
