12.000 Confidentiality of Library Records

The Trustees recognize that the Library’s circulation records and other records identifying the names of Library users with specific materials are confidential. The Librarian and staff shall not make these records available to any agency of state, federal or local government except pursuant to such process, order or subpoena as may be authorized under the written authority for and pursuant to federal, state, and local law relating to civil, criminal, or administrative discovery procedures or legislative investigatory power. This confidentiality policy shall not apply to any borrowers who have overdue books. See Policy 2.001 regarding the borrower’s obligation to return books by the stated deadline and in the same condition as the books were borrowed.
