It's that time of the year for science fairs and water fairs. At the Keene Public Library, we are seeing students darting about trying to gather resources to begin working on their projects. We have put together a few pathfinders that may help. Science and Water Fair Help provides resources specificially chosen to help fourth grade science students completing a water project. Science Fair Projects offers resource suggestions that will help students completing science fair projects of all types.
If students need some extra help, the Keene Public offers a variety of free tutoring and mentoring services:
Each Wednesday through March, volunteers from Timken Super Precision will be available from 4 pm until 5:30 pm in the library's Youth Department. They will provide scientific advice and guidance for Keene fourth graders participating in the City's Water Fair.
In-house tutors for science as well as other subjects can also be scheduled at other times. Call Dan Petit at 603-352-0157 to arrange for a tutor.
Finally free online science tutoring and resources from are available through Tutor.com! Students can work with a science tutor to brainstorm ideas, refine their project and write the report. They can even get advice on how to display their conclusions. To get a Tutor.com science tutor follow the link or click on "tutor.com" in the "quick links" column on our homepage at www.keenepubliclibrary.org. A Keene Public Library card is required to connect with Tutor.com from outside of the library.
