Trash to Tunes

Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the Auditorium

On Tuesday, August 8, 2017,  at 1 p.m. families and children of all ages are invited to a musical performance call “Trash To Tunes,” The show is a performance using handmade and homemade musical instruments made from recycled materials. The instruments, created by ethnomusicologist Dennis Waring, are inspired from instruments from around the world. Interesting sights, sounds, and stories about the instruments give audiences new insight into folklore, music, craft, science, and worldview. This all ages event will be held in the Children’s Library, is free and open to the public.

Waring is a music consultant, educator, performer, and instrument maker and has developed educational programs throughout North America. Waring performs a variety of musical styles on instruments made from items most people throw away. He weaves tales about the origins of music and shows how cultures used music to communicate in their natural environment.

All programs at the Keene Public Library are free and open to the public.  For more information, please contact Gail Zachariah at the Keene Public Library at 603-352-0157.
