New York Philharmonic Opening Gala With Lang Lang -- A Free Lincoln Center Local Film Screening

The New York Philharmonic's 174th season began with a drum roll … then came the famous opening chords of Grieg’s Piano Concerto.This recorded performance presents Music Director Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic as they opened the season in style with Lang Lang, with his “charismatic stage presence, passionate playing and astounding technique” (The New York Times). The celebratory evening concluded with Beethoven's joyful Seventh Symphony. This was recorded at the David Geffen Hall on  Thursday, Sep 24, 2015.
