Registration is ongoing, although some programs may reach enrollment limit. Preschool Storytime is offered on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. or Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. In Preschool Storytime, children will enjoy age-appropriate stories, songs, poetry, and activities. A special program for babies, toddlers, and caregivers is offered on Thursdays and Fridays at 10 a.m.

Library storytimes are free, fun, and entertaining but they are valuable learning tools for young children as well.  Keene Public Library story programs were developed in response to research that shows the importance of sharing language with very young children. Current research on early literacy and brain development indicates that it is never too early to prepare children for success as readers. Parents of newborns, toddlers, and preschoolers must be informed of their critical role as their children's first teacher. Sharing books help to create a deep and lasting bond between child and caregiver. The early introduction of language play, books, rhymes, and songs into a child’s life offers him or a variety of experiences. Finally, sharing books with very young children can help to prepare children to learn to read and love books.

All Keene Public Library programs are free and open to the public.  Interested parents and caregivers should call the Keene Public Library at 603 352-0157 for further about the library’s summer reading program and summertime activities for family and youth programs.  Information is also available online at
