Ladybug Book Award Celebration seeks preschoolers through third graders

Saturday, November 4, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Youth Department

The Keene Public Library celebrates the 2017 Ladybug Picture Book Award on Saturday, November 4 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. in the library’s Youth Department on the 2nd floor. Children from preschool through third grade and their families are invited to this fun event. The library is located at 60 Winter Street.

Each year a committee of New Hampshire children’s librarians around the state selects ten picture book titles for the Ladybug Picture Book Award. Children in Keene will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite book during this family event. To learn about all the books, the event will consist of activity stations for each book, a voting booth, and free food. Activities will be created and staffed by members of Kappa Delta Pi, the education honor society at Keene State College.

This year’s nominated books include: “A Bike Like Sergio’s” by Maribeth Boelts, illustrated by Noah Z. Jones, “A Hat for Mrs. Goldman” by Michelle Edwards, illustrated by Brian G. Karas; “Albert’s Almost Amazing Adventure by Marty Kelley; “Dragon was Terrible” by Terry DiPucchio, illustrated by Greg Pizzoli, “Elwood Bigfoot” by Jill Esbaum, illustrated by Nate Wragg, “Hank’s Big Day: The Story of a Bug” by Evan Kuhlman, illustrated by Chuck Groenink, “Nanette’s Baguette” by Mo Willems, “The Water Princess” by Susan Verde, illustrated by Peter Reynolds, “What to Do with a Box” by Jane Yolen, illustrated by Chris Sheban, and “Woodpecker Wants a Waffle” by Steve Breen. Don’t miss this celebration! Join other N.H. children and cast your vote for your favorite picture book title and enjoy a special time with family and friends.
