Family Fort Night

Friday, June 30, 2017, at 6 p.m. in the Youth Department

Library campers will start the night out with a few read alouds and snacks. Then families will build the perfect blanket fort for bedtime reading at the library! Bring your own blankets, pillows, and a flashlight. The library will provide the s"mores and the books (or you can bring your favorites)! Registration is suggested for this event. The theme of the library’s summer programs is “Build a Better World.” Fun and educational programs are scheduled throughout the summer. The library’s summer programs are open to readers and listeners of all ages and abilities. Program members will explore book and literature activities, art experiences, science and engineering experiments, and technology projects. Some of the many programs offered this summer at the library are drop-in story programs for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Free family friendly movies are offered on Fridays at 1 p.m. The library will show family movies at 1 p.m. Each Tuesday at 1 p.m., children’s entertainers will offer free performances at 1 p.m. Special weekday camps are offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons at 2 p.m.

The Summer Reading Club is the Keene Public Library’s largest and most popular program of the year. The club offers levels for children, young adults, and adults. Participants read what they want at their own pace and are rewarded incentives for the time they read. As part of our summer reading programs, the Library provides lists of suggested books and tips for parents on incorporating reading in family activities Reading children will keep their brains active and enter school in the fall ready to learn and succeed. The library encourages everyone to stop by and register for the program during the kickoff event. When readers register, they will receive information and a free book.    

The Friends of the Keene Public Library and the Endowment Fund of the Trustees of the Keene Public Library sponsor the library’s summer programs.
