Bright Star, 2008, is an impressive movie directed by Jane Campion. This tells of the moving romance between John Keats, an obscure English poet in his own time, and his neighbor, Fanny Brawne. John Keats, who died 200 years ago, is now very famous for his poetry. The movie is beautifully filmed with great acting. Even if you are not a fan of English poetry, you should enjoy this true love story.
Really? Obscure?
Its very amusing to see you call Keats 'obscure'. Can you please enlighten me as to the many poets whose fame is of such great proportions as to reduce Keats to such a sorry state in the annals of literary history?
Bright Star and Keats
I don't think that akingsbury meant to negate Keats significant influence. Instead she says that in his short lifetime he was unknown but now he is famous. Luckily, we can turn to the library and books like Keats by Andrew Morton for a more definitive answer to this question. Although I have not yet seen the movie Bright Star, I highly recommend this readable and original biography. ~ Gail Zachariah, Keene Public Library
